I think you would be hard pushed to find a single smoker anywhere that wasn't aware of the dangers and nasty side effects of smoking. The media won't let such a thing happen, just take a gander at all the anti-smoking commercials aired daily. People that are still looking into how to quit smoking after all the anti-smoking campaigns probably aren't going to are they?It would be very naïve if you believed that lung cancer only affects certain people with a genetic failing or those over 65 years of age. Most people think that just one cigarette won't hurt them but they obviously are unaware that one cigarette won't leave your lungs completely for a month. If one cigarette can do that, just think how much harm a pack of 20 will do to you. It's no good just ignoring the problem; this is a serious subject with some serious consequences to consider.
There is no excuse not to keep informed nowadays especially with all the resources there are to help you.I couldn't live with myself knowing that I could have prevented an unnecessary condition just by having a check-up. With smoking, common sense rarely rules the day with most smokers ignoring the warnings. That attitude of 'it won't happen to me' may be the case with the majority of smokers but sometimes when they get a real scare, that makes them quit! Often it's having a smoking related respiratory condition that makes them listen when all the articles on smoking and lung cancer didn't.
I saw something once though that stopped me in my tracks; a person smoking a cigarette through a hole in their throat. Even after seeing this I still found it hard to believe that you could be that addicted or obsessed with the habit - and giving up smoking could still be so hard. There has always been evidence that smoking can cause serious respiratory problems but now all that knowledge and research is available to anyone who is interested.No-one is in a position anymore to plead ignorance, there's just too much evidence and information on lung cancer to say you didn't know! Also people who do not smoke would like to work, rest and play without breathing in other peoples used smoke. The case for this is now so strong, more and more countries and places are making smoking illegal in specific areas so isn't it time you wised up?
